What was your last non-radio job?
I am currently the Associate Director of Admission, International Coordinator for Roger Williams University, where I get to travel the world to recruit students. This also allows me to do things like meet up with old friends from my time living overseas, as well as consistently check the River’s online stream from all kinds of exotic locations!
How do you spend your time outside the station?
I travel a lot, so listening to music, especially on long flights is important. Taking in the sights as I hit some of the world’s great cities while trying to figure out how to watch the next Patriots game. You haven’t lived until you have watched a late-night Pats game in Portuguese or over breakfast on a TV with rabbit ears in China!
What is your favorite Boston band, past or present?
I spent more than 12 years doing the local music shows on WFNX & WBCN, so there are so many favorites. Let’s just say the Friday night Homegrown Showcase here on The River will always feature one of my favorites!
What was your first concert?
My first rock show was Kiss in 1978 at the Budokan in Tokyo.
What was the first album you ever bought?
The Monkees debut in 1968.
What are some of your favorite movies?
Because life is like a plate of shrimp, I will still stop everything I am doing to watch Repo Man! I also have a soft spot for Bill Murray in Lost in Translation since I can see my old apartment out of his hotel room window.
What are some of your favorite TV shows, past or present?
Current shows include Stranger Things, Westward, Louie, Real Time with Bill Mahar, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Classics include, the Mary Tyler Moore Show, WKRP (although I miss the original music), The Sopranos, Breaking Bad and Family Guy.
If you had a goofy DJ name what would it be?
DJ B-ill, developed after years spinning Friday nights at Bill’s Bar on Landsdowne St.
What is your favorite YouTube video?
WKRP’s Turkeys Away episode. Time to make some radio history.
