DESCRIPTION:Young Southpaw is pleased to announce he’s bringing his New Haven-based BAT SOUP Comedy show to Somerville on Sunday\, July 28th. Come down for an early show of hijinx and hilarity with a mix of Boston and CT comedians. \nYoung Southpaw is the surrealist alter ego of writer and musician Aug Stone. Stone lived in Allston from 1999-2004\, playing in the bands Lifestyle\, Rockets Burst From The Streetlamps\, and as the solo act\, rock stone. He was also a partner in Freezepop’s label\, The Archenemy Record Company. In December 2018\, Stone moved back to his home state of Connecticut after 15 years in London\, Los Angeles\, and Nashville making music. He switched focus from songwriting to exploring his love of surreal and absurdist humor in the guise of Young Southpaw\, who has since been described as “the ghost of Mitch Hedberg meets the ghost of Mark Twain” and “Huckleberry S. Thompson”. BAT SOUP is a vehicle for Southpaw to stretch out and flow a la the deceptively digressive\, interconnected nature of his The Young Southpaw Part On An Hour podcast. \n\n  \nYoung Southpaw will be hosting the show as well as performing a set. Joining him: \nHailing from Boston\, Caitlin Arcand is a comedian using her psychology degree for anything but being a psychologist. Her candid stories and brutally honest accounts of her daily life have been heard on stages all over the country\, recently appearing at The North Carolina Comedy Festival and The Portland Maine Comedy Festival. \nSouth Boston’s Chris Kinback uses dry wit and deadpan delivery to make you laugh at subjects you never thought possible. He produces Comedy Night at Sixth Gear and regularly performs at Laugh Boston and Nick’s Comedy Stop. \nCliff Mula’s done comedy in LA\, New York\, and comedy clubs throughout New England. He can’t snap his fingers or whistle but he’s from Hartford so he’s got a story to tell. \nJ Smitty is a Boston-based comedian and writer. J’s humor and point of view stem from awkward situations\, racial humor\, and misdirection. Along with his use of many impressions\, Smitty will find a way to have you laughing or groaning (either will do). J can be seen on Season 2 of Kevin Hart’s ‘Hart Of The City’ on Comedy Central. \nMega Harrison became a comic because she told someone she already was one. The crushing anxiety of living with such a spurious claim forced her into a life of publicly confiding her secrets for the amusement of strangers. \nIsh Gupta is a Hartford-based comedian who has shared stages with headliners such as Jordan Rock\, Andrew Kennedy\, Katie Hannigan\, and Kevin McAffrey. With tales about various weird jobs interweaved with dark yet playful observations about our world\, he brings a unique and subversive perspective\, as well as an always changing hairstyle\, to stages all over CT\, MA\, and RI. \nLocal personality Rob Crean hosts several weekly shows including “The Gas at Great Scott” every Friday.
