Mixing a blend of soulful singer-songwriter repertoire with jazzy melodic twists, Sarah Blacker & the Light arrive with 4-part lush vocal harmonies and a side of Classic Rock and folk. Their genre is familiar, compelling, and chill-evoking all in the same breath. Regularly compared to Joni Mitchell and Rickie Lee Jones, Sarah Blacker, who pens the majority of the group’s repertoire on both skillful guitar and ukulele, was twice named ‘Female Performer of the Year’ in the New England Music Awards and is also a Boston Music Award nominee, a Board-Certified music therapist, and Master’s Level Mental Health Clinician. Jammy award-winning, talented singer/songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Aaron Z. Katz (of the NH-based Percy Hill, and Vitamin C) plays percussion and keyboard bass at the same time, while pulling in hints of Paul Simon and Steely Dan’s world-infused rhythms. Creative Arts Therapists and singer/songwriters Danielle Lovasco and Mark Lipman lend their beautiful voices and guitarmonies to the project with grace.
