Marblehead Musician awarded $5,000 from Mass Cultural Council

On Wednesday, April 1st, 92.5 the River Homegrown Music Showcase debuted “Ghost Song”, by Eliza Howells. The Marblehead native is a 2018 Marblehead High School graduate who received a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance & Composition from UMass Amherst in 2022, and her Master’s degree in Composition from Tufts University in 2024. Working primarily in pop and opera, Howells in her music seeks to connect with audiences through the vulnerability inherent to both genres. The Massachusetts Cultural Council has recently selected Howells as a recipient of a 2026 Grant for Creative Individuals. Congrats Eliza!
