Join curator Lydia Peabody for a tour of Gio Swaby: Fresh Up, the first solo museum exhibition featuring work of this 31 year old Bahamian artist. Swaby sews textile portraits of the women in her life using a range of contemporary techniques and boldly designed fabrics. Across 40 works of art spanning intimate sizes to monumental scale, this exhibition celebrates self-expression and the cultivation of love through the power of representation. The artist refers to the portraits as “love letters to Black women and girls.”
