Ropes Mansion and Garden | Salem, MA
Join Curator Paula Richter for a tour of PEM’s Ropes Mansion and Garden. Each room of this nearly 300-year-old house holds a powerful story that resonates with issues we face today. Four generations of original family furnishings from the 18th to early 20th centuries offer visitors the chance to explore many topics: furnishing your home, interior decoration, cooking and dining, family life and childhood, illness and death and holiday celebrations. Or, ask about the mansion’s cameo appearance as Alison’s house in Hocus Pocus (1993). Wrap up your tour by strolling through the flower-filled paths of the garden, designed and laid out in 1912 when the house first opened to the public.
Tour is Friday, June 21st at 1:30pm. Contest winners will meet at the main museum and walk the 0.4 miles together to the mansion. Ropes Mansion is not wheelchair accessible and stairs are required to enter the house and ascend to the second floor during the tour.
Enter before Sunday, June 9th at 11:59pm. Good luck!
